Product Overview

There are multiple ways to use the DSim simulator: locally and in the cloud, from the terminal, and through the DSim Desktop UI.



DSim Desktop

DSim Desktop is a flexible and modern simulation environment that can be used to simulate on-premises or to leverage the expansive power of cloud computing. Built into the Visual Studio Code (VSC) IDE, it can be customized and adapted to your needs.

Get started with the Tour of DSim Desktop.


To see your version of DSim Desktop, click Extensions in VSC. Under INSTALLED, find and hover over the DSim Desktop extension.




DSim

DSim is our cutting-edge, full-feature SystemVerilog and VHDL RTL simulator, optimized for maximum power and scalability in the cloud.

To see your active version of DSim, enter dsim -version in a DSim Desktop shell.




DSim Cloud

DSim Cloud is the secure and scalable solution for running your regression tests at scale without needing to manage the infrastructure required to run them.


DSim Cloud CLI (mdc) is the command-line tool for DSim Cloud. It allows you to securely work with DSim Cloud to manage your regression jobs and interactive workspaces, including running simulations and transferring files.

Get started with the DSim Cloud Tutorial.


To see your version of DSim Cloud, open a terminal window and enter the following command.


 

mdc --version

 


DSim Cloud Portal

DSim Cloud includes a web application called DSim Cloud Portal. Today, this is where you'll have easy access to:

  • Billing
  • Licenses

Future releases will bring usage monitoring features, as well as features for running regressions and viewing results:

Desktop Interactive

The Desktop Interactive workflow is designed for users who conduct simulations on their own hardware. When running local simulations from DSim Desktop, your usage can be viewed live in DSim Cloud Portal by clicking the Refresh icon in the Desktop Interactive view.




Cloud Interactive

Cloud Interactive offers a powerful cloud-based environment that seamlessly integrates your local workspace containing your design files, with a robust remote workspace equipped with compute resources and DSim. When running remote simulations from DSim Cloud CLI, your interactive workspaces can be viewed live in DSim Cloud Portal by clicking Cloud Interactive view.



Access DSim Cloud Portal using the credentials you already use to authenticate with mdc.
